First and Second Focus Group in Romania

Romanian partner IREA has organized the first focus group for educators who work with migrants in project SoJUST. The focus group took place on March 16, 2021 in online format.
We had a fruitful discussion with 15 professionals, including university professors, directors of counseling centers, social workers, psychological counselor, legal counselor for migrants, teachers from the group of trainers.
We talked about the roles of these experts within their institutions and in the educational process of migrants, about the factors that contribute to balancing the relationship between experts / educational specialists / counselors and migrants, on the characteristics of experts for positive education and counseling services.
Last but not least we discussed about increasing the specific competencies of counselors in their work with migrants to positively affect education - counseling relationship (vocational education, non-formal education, mentoring, personality traits, knowledge to have, demographic information).
Many thanks to all the specialists in the field of education for migrants who responded to our invitation and attended the meeting that represents a starting point in our research.

The Second Focus Group of SoJUST Project in Romania has been done online with educators on 18 th of March.
The purpose of this focus group is to identify the learning and counseling needs of migrants.
The adult migrants have discussed about:
  •  the roles of experts at the institutions they applied for any reason
  •  the relationship balance with the experts
  • the features of the experts for positive education and councelling services,
  • the roles of the migrant herself/himself at the process of guidance and councelling services.
All the opinions expressed today by the participants will be interpreted as a starting point in the formulation and development of new skills for professionals working with migrants as part of the project activities we implement.
Many thanks to all the participants who today contributed their opinions in finding us answers to our questions!
